Emily joined BHN as a file clerk through a temp agency in January 2018 and was later hired permanently that spring. She has been an integral part of BHN's Human Resource Department for almost six years and recently advanced to the role of HR coordinator. 

After celebrating her 5th anniversary, she expressed surprise at discovering her passion for HR. "I didn't know I wanted to work in HR until I got here," she explains. "I love the interactions I have with people every day and being able to help fix their problems."

As an HR Coordinator, Emily is responsible for facilitating internships, organizing new employee orientations, and ensuring new hires feel welcomed and supported. “It’s important to not leave people on the sidelines. If they want to advance, we need to support them.”

When asked to describe the culture at BHN, Emily shares, “You can talk to anybody about anything. BHN is like my second family.”

Emily holds a liberal arts degree and earned a degree in science/information technology at STCC. Her ultimate goal is to further her education by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in human resources and to assume a supervisory or HR manager role. “My children inspire me,” she says. “I’m trying to give them a bright path. As the world gets crazier, I want to show them a sense of normal life – you can still go to college, get a degree and a job you love.”
