A’tala
A’tala is an HR Service Center Assistant with nine years of experience in the Human Resources department at BHN. In her role, she assists new employees with the onboarding processes and background checks. She loves working with people and finds it is the best part of her job.
A'tala mentions that people often feel discouraged when they receive negative feedback on a CORI review or other background checks when applying at BHN but ensures them not to worry and shares that, “BHN gives everybody a chance to strive and the opportunity to work. It’s a very diverse culture where no one is judged.”
A graduate of Commerce High School, A'tala went on to take human services classes in college and spent many years as a hotel front desk clerk. She began working at BHN’s Northampton residential services office through a temp agency. At the end of the contract, the program director encouraged her to apply to the agency. Once her career path changed, it opened many opportunities for her. "I like to help people," she says of what motivates her. "If I see someone in need and I feel that I'm capable, I try my best to help."
A’tala draws her biggest inspiration from her daughter. "Your kids see everything you do. They learn and pick up on everything. I want my daughter to know that hard work pays off.” Looking ahead, A’tala aspires to pursue her associate’s degree and expand her expertise in the field of human services by returning to school in the future.
